Asterisk Ball and the Hall of Fame..

So Barry Bonds will refuse to be a part of the Hall of Fame if his record breaking home run ball is put into the Hall with an asterisk. People voted to have the ball branded when Marc Ecko (man who bought the ball) gave the fans a chance to decide what to do with it. Ecko has planned to brand an asterisk on the ball and give it to the hall. Bonds, like the moron he is, has said he refuses to be a part of the Hall of Fame if this occurs.

Bonds has said, ” I don’t think you can put an asterisk in the game of baseball, and I don’t think that the Hall of Fame can accept an asterisk. You cannot give people the freedom, the right to alter history. You can’t do it. There’s no such thing as an asterisk in baseball.” Of course Bonds in this case is the idiot of the hour. There has been an asterisk in baseball before, or does anyone forget about the asterisk put next to the single season record when Roger Maris broke Babe Ruth’s record. The Hall of Fame is not run by Major League Baseball, it is an independent organization that works in conjunction with the Majors. The Hall of Fame can do whatever it sees fit. They have opted to keep any player who is ineligible to play ball from being eligible to be in the Hall of Fame.

As far as whether or not the people can change history that is an obvious error made by Bonds. The winners write history, the people can certainly be on the side of the “winners”. Not only this, but people have rewritten history many times over. The court of public opinion has already convicted Bonds of taking steroids; he needs to realize this point. Bonds should get over himself; he is not the god he makes himself out to be.
